Morocco’s Benatia Predicts Tough Path for Team in Africa Cup of Nations

Moroccan international Medhi Benatia, in an interview with the Qatari channel BeIn Sport, affirmed that Morocco had every chance... of reaching the second round. While still hoping to reach the semi-finals. And as favorites according to him, he names the following: Algeria, Senegal and Egypt.
Speaking about Qatar where he plays, Benatia says: "For me it’s a chance to be able to do Ramadan in a Muslim country." The player states that everyone is fasting and that the training sessions are held at night. Contrary, according to him, to Europe.
"I think we have every chance of succeeding in getting past the group stage, and we know well that we are in a balanced and difficult group, actually called the group of death. But it is certain that our mission will be difficult, especially with the presence of our Ivorian friends," the player also points out.
Regarding the chances of the Moroccan team in this African competition, the Captain of the Atlas Lions declares: "I cannot say that we will win the CAN because there are teams bigger than ours, well prepared. But we will discuss it on the field in order to make the supporters happy."
Medhi Benatia also gives, in this interview, his predictions for the prestigious cup: "As I said before, Algeria and Senegal are the favorites due to the preparation of their players. And they have said that they are going to the CAN to win it. Not to mention Egypt, which is hosting the competition and has Mohammed Salah in its ranks, very successful these days. I think these three teams will be in the semi-finals. And I hope we will be the fourth team in this last four."
