Morocco to Begin Full Aircraft Assembly by 2025, Minister Announces

Morocco will launch the full assembly of aircraft within two years, according to the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour.
Morocco will be able to fully assemble PC-12 aircraft within two years, Ryad Mezzour said on Tuesday, during the presentation of his department’s draft budget to the Productive Sectors Commission of the House of Representatives. The minister indicated that this project will be possible thanks to the agreement concluded between a Swiss company specialized in aeronautics and another company.
Morocco had already started producing 41% of the parts needed for aircraft manufacturing, Ryad Mezzour recalled, adding that the aeronautics sector will create more than 17,000 additional jobs by 2026. Currently, the sector employs some 11,000 people, he specified.
The Minister of Industry also welcomed the timid recovery of activities in the industrial sectors (automotive and textile) after being severely affected by the Covid-19 crisis. "The recovery rate of Moroccan exports in the automotive sector at the end of September 2021 was around 104% compared to the same period in 2019," said Ryad Mezzour, noting that 97.8% of the jobs suspended in 2020 have been restored.
