Morocco to Begin Domestic COVID-19 Vaccine Production in December

After the signing of agreements related to the manufacture and filling of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine and other vaccines in Morocco, Moroccan researchers have announced the start of the project for next December.

More is known about the "Made in Morocco" vaccine, this ambition dear to King Mohammed VI. The result of a partnership between the Chinese company "Sinopharm" and the Moroccan company "Sothema", it will enter its active phase next December, according to sources reported by Hespress, adding that in the short term, researchers plan to distribute 5 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine per month.

"The scheduled date for the launch of vaccine manufacturing is still maintained," said Lamia Tazi, CEO of the Sothema group, stressing that "all regulatory procedures are ongoing and nothing has changed regarding the process."

With a budget of $500 million, this project should not only meet the needs of the national vaccination campaign, but also make Morocco the pharmacist of Africa.

Beyond strengthening Morocco’s health sovereignty, it will make the Kingdom a global platform for vaccine production and manufacturing alongside the great powers.
