Morocco to Begin Covid-19 Booster Shots in October for High-Risk Groups

The third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine is confirmed in Morocco. The health authorities will provide this booster dose starting the first week of October to healthcare workers, people with chronic illnesses, and the elderly.
For several weeks, the scientific and technical committee has been discussing the possibility of a third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. The idea was raised following the third wave of contamination and the emergence of new variants worldwide and in Morocco, reports Al Ahdath.
The number of days between the second dose and this third booster dose must be at least four weeks, according to the recommendations of the scientific and technical committee. The type of vaccine must also be the same as the one taken during the first two doses.
According to the newspaper, Morocco has a sufficient stock of AstraZeneca, Sinopharm and Pfizer vaccines. Additional batches of these vaccines are to be delivered to allow the country to continue vaccinating those who have not yet received the first two doses as well as those who will receive the booster dose. Morocco plans to reach 70% of the population vaccinated by next November.
