Morocco Becomes Africa’s Top Avocado Exporter in 2025

According to the FAO report, Morocco recorded the continent’s strongest growth, overtaking Kenya, whose volumes fell by 19% to approximately 105 164 tonnes. This shift can be explained by maritime disruptions in the Red Sea, which lengthened delivery times from East Africa, while Moroccan ports such as Tanger Med make it possible to reach Europe within a few days.

Morocco’s growth is supported by massive investments in irrigation and the expansion of orchards in the Souss Massa and Gharb regions. Local packing stations have also aligned their standards with the requirements of European supermarkets, enabling them to capture growing demand in the European Union, where consumption reached 1,07 million tonnes in 2025.
