Morocco’s Badr Benoun Earns Surprise National Team Recall, Reigniting Career

The list of players called up by Walid Regragui contained surprises like Badr Benoun, the Moroccan international who plays for Qatar SC. For the Atlas Lion, being called up has "given him hope again".
At 29 years old, Badr Benoun was going through a bad patch to the point where giving up his professional career had crossed his mind. "4 months ago I was thinking of quitting football. A big thank you goes to this gentleman (Walid Regragui) who has allowed me today to be alongside these great champions who honor the flag," he said. "God always returns it to you with something positive. My faith in him was great, and the support of my family and my wife were important during this period of my life," he added.
In an emotional testimony, the central defender said he had gone through a very difficult period and had never imagined that he could stand up, writing a beautiful story with the national football team. "I would like to thank all those who participated in this exploit, the players, the staff, the Federation, and our King may God assist him, who has always been in contact with the team".
