Morocco Awards Blue Flag Status to 26 Beaches, Ensuring Safe Summer Getaways

26 beaches and a marina in the city of Saïdia have been awarded the "Blue Flag" label for the year 2020. They offer the safety that vacationers need to relax after more than three months of health confinement, according to the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection.
In a statement published online, the Mohammed VI Foundation stated that the labeled municipalities are responsible for the complete management of the beaches within their perimeter, including maintenance, cleanliness, equipment, safety, training, awareness and accessibility.
These municipalities are also supported by the "Clean Beaches" program of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, supported by the General Directorate of Local Authorities, the relevant ministerial departments and economic partners who provide them with managerial skills and financial support.
Beyond the quality of the waters, these 26 beaches were selected this year out of a total of 39 candidate beaches, having met the demanding criteria of this label, namely the measures of information, awareness and environmental education, hygiene and safety and finally the development and management of the beaches.
