Morocco Awards Blue Flag Status to 27 Beaches and Marina for Environmental Excellence

About twenty beaches and a marina in Morocco have received the "Blue Flag" label for the year 2021. The announcement was made by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection.
Compared to last year where there were 26, this year, it is 27 beaches and a marina that have received the "Blue Flag" label. These are more precisely the beaches of Achakar (Tangier-Asilah), Aglou Sidi Moussa (Tiznit), Arekmane (Nador), Ba Kacem (Tangier-Asilah), Bouznika, Skhirate, El Moussafir (Dakhla), Essaouira, Foum El Oued (Laâyoune), Haouzia, Dalia (Fahs Anjra), Mdiq/(Mdiq-Fnideq), Oued Laou (Tétouan), Oum labouir (Dakhla), Safi city, Souiria lkdima (Safi), Saïdia tourist resort, Cap Beddouza (Safi), Sidi Abed (El Jadida), Sidi Ifni, Imintourga (Mireleft), Sidi Rahal 4th tranche, Oued Al Marssa (Fahs Anjra), Plage des Nations, Ain Diab Extension, Rifienne (Mdiq-Fnideq), Saidia Municipal as well as the Saidia Marina.
The "Blue Flag" Label is an award given by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, chaired by Princess Lalla Hasnaa, and the International Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). Only beaches whose bathing waters have an impeccable quality can claim this kind of label, which also takes into account safety, the development of beaches and back-beaches and the way awareness-raising on respect for the environment is done.
In its press release, the Foundation saluted the efforts of the municipalities in charge of the labeled beaches, which, despite the health situation, have worked to maintain order and cleanliness. This is why the Foundation had produced a guide to beach management in the context of the pandemic in 2020. Recommendations on social distancing, compliance with barrier gestures or the distribution of hydroalcoholic gel will be maintained on the beaches open to swimming, the Foundation specified.
The Foundation has been awarding the international Blue Flag label, created by the International Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), since 2002. Around 4,743 beaches and marinas in 47 countries in Europe, Africa, America or the Caribbean or the Pacific are concerned. The label is awarded each year, after extensive preparation and evaluation.
