Morocco’s Avocado Exports Surge to Record Levels Despite Drought

The drought affecting Morocco will not have a negative impact on its avocado exports. The kingdom is on the verge of setting a new record.
The Moroccan avocado has a bright future ahead of it. Moroccan avocado exports have almost doubled over the past five seasons, with 39% of exports in 2021/22 to Spain and 26% to France, followed by the Netherlands (19%), Germany (10%) and the United Kingdom (3%). Morocco exported a record volume of avocados during the period from July 2022 to January 2023, 35,500 tons, or 60% more than during the same months of the previous season, "when a total of 42,300 tons was exported", reports Maghreb-Intelligence.

These performances can only augur significant growth prospects. Morocco could therefore set a new record for avocado exports for the 2022/23 season (July-June).
