Morocco Averts Air Traffic Controller Strike After Government Intervention

The Minister of Employment has managed to defuse the threat of a paralysis of around fifteen days brandished by the air traffic controllers, following a meeting with their union representatives.
The controllers had planned from October 8th, a 15-day strike to protest against the non-satisfaction of some of their demands. This is the establishment of a "salary revaluation bonus" recorded in a protocol of agreement signed in 2019 with the former director of ONDA, Mohamed El Oufir.
Minister Younes Sekkouri was therefore mandated by the head of government to inform the members of the unified bureau of air traffic controllers that the government has managed to obtain the postponement of the meeting of the board of directors of the National Airports Office (ONDA) initially scheduled for this Friday. He also promised to work to ensure that some of the demands at the heart of the strike threat are met by the ONDA management. A first meeting is scheduled for next week.
The Minister of Employment and his colleague from Transport, also present at the meeting, asked the controllers to be patient due to the losses incurred by the Office in 2020 and 2021 which amount to several billion dirhams.
