Morocco’s Auto Market Faces Supply Shortage Amid Strong Demand

The new vehicle market in Morocco is facing a crisis induced by an imbalance between supply and demand. The situation could stabilize in the second half of 2022.
Dealers thought they would take advantage of the year-end holiday period to boost their sales. They had even prepared attractive offers and planned promotions to attract their customers. But all their hopes have fallen due to the unavailability of cars in stock, reports SNRT News.
"[...] The brands used to communicate at this time of December, because they had a huge stock. This year, we are facing a paradoxical situation, the demand exists but the supply is not keeping up. We are also surprised by the very high demand," explains Khalid Kabbaj, general manager of KMG Auto.
This shortage of vehicles in stock is a consequence of the health crisis that has led several factories to stop production and caused a 2.67% drop in sales by the end of November compared to the same period in 2019. Khalid Kabbaj expects a return to normal in the second half of 2022.
