Morocco’s Atlas Lions Prepare for Tough CAN 2019 Clash Against Underdog Benin

During the training session of the "Atlas Lions" this Wednesday, July 3, the day after the victory over South Africa, two key players of the Moroccan national team gave their opinion on the next match, which promises to be very difficult against Benin, in the context of CAN 2019. For the two players, Benin is not to be underestimated, as it deserves its qualification and will undoubtedly try to create a surprise against the "Atlas Lions".
Speaking to the Moroccan media, Yassine Bounou, the goalkeeper, on behalf of his teammates, revealed the steps taken by the "Atlas Lions" before facing the "Squirrels", who, according to him, have shown an appreciable quality of play. Aware of the potential of all the teams qualified for the round of 16, who have highlighted their ability to catch the big teams off guard, Bounou says that only mental and psychological preparation can be useful in these challenges. All scenarios are possible, recalls the Moroccan international.
The other approach to take on the field, according to the goalkeeper, is to wait for the surprise to come from the opponent. "We will therefore have to play with our usual intensity and put in a good performance," added Yassine Bounou, who has been approached by RCD Espanyol of Barcelona.
Romain Saïs, one of the key elements of the "Lions’" qualification for CAN 2019, sees in this continuation of the competition a new tournament which, unlike the previous phase, is a direct elimination. The Wolverhampton defender stressed the need for serious preparation. He did not fail to point out that the Beninese team was not to be neglected, given its exploits against Ghana and Cameroon, the defending champions. "We must not think we are the favorites." It is only on this condition that the "Lions" will be able to ensure and qualify, said the Moroccan international.
