Morocco: 11 Arrested After Ashura Celebration Turns Violent in Khouribga

The judicial police brigade of Khouribga opened a preliminary investigation on Monday against eleven people involved in violence and assault against police elements.
In a statement, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) indicated that calls were received on the security services’ number 19 about complaints regarding a group of people who were causing trouble on the public highway, preventing traffic on "Palestine" Avenue.
In reality, these people were celebrating Ashura. What should have been peaceful gave way to acts of violence with thrown stones, jeopardizing the safety of people and property.
The security forces intervened to restore order by arresting the suspects, subject of the judicial investigation that has been opened to determine the causes of these criminal acts, concluded the DGSN.
