Morocco: Arabic Teacher Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault on Underage Students

Accused of sexual assault on underage female students, the Arabic teacher at the Khadija Girls’ High School in Tétouan was arrested and then placed in detention.
Suspected of having sexually assaulted underage students, this teacher was arrested and placed in pre-trial detention, according to Collective 490 which had brought these acts of aggression to the attention of the authorities. While welcoming the development of the case, the Collective announced in a statement that the victims "are under pressure to force them to withdraw their accusations against the aggressor".
After the denunciation made on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 by a first high school student, "many direct testimonies of underage victims" were recorded. "One of his victims, ’M’, whom we are accompanying, filed a complaint today with the Attorney General of Tétouan on the basis of Articles 485 and 487 of the Penal Code (sexual assault on a minor by a person in authority over him), but also 503-2 (sexual exploitation of minors) and 503-1 (harassment)," explains the collective, which stresses that it is closely following this case so that justice is done for the victims.
Contacted by Le360, Collective 490 had pointed out that the victims would have suffered touching from their aggressor. Some would even have been blackmailed on the grades given by this teacher. The members of the collective are pleased that since the outbreak of the "sex for good grades" affair in Oujda, more and more victims are managing to break the silence around sexual blackmail in the university and school environment.
