Morocco’s Human Rights Council Urges Students to Report Sexual Harassment in Schools

The National Human Rights Council (CNDH) calls for the denunciation of any blackmail, sexual harassment and abuse of power at school. The President of the Council has expressed her intention to organize round tables on issues of violence, harassment and sextortion and on how to protect victims.
The "sex for good grades" phenomenon has elicited a reaction from the CNDH. Amina Bouayach held a meeting on Tuesday, January 4, with the presidents of the regional human rights committees and the president of the permanent committee responsible for parity and non-discrimination, following the hearing by the regional human rights committees of student victims of these cases in Settat, Oujda, as well as in other cities.
For the CNDH, it is now urgent to raise awareness among victims still in the shadows and above all to denounce the behaviors. It is also a question of reflecting on the strategies to be adopted to protect the victims, the whistleblowers and the university, as a space for knowledge.
The CNDH took the opportunity to welcome the strong adherence to its campaign launched under the slogan: "Let’s not be silent in the face of violence against women and girls." Amina Bouayach encourages female students to report offenses committed against them, assuring them that conditions will be created to guarantee respect for their right to privacy and confidentiality in all investigation, inquiry and litigation procedures.
