Morocco Approves 15-Day Paid Paternity Leave for Civil Servants

It was unanimously by its present members that the House of Representatives adopted the bill on paternity leave.
According to Ghita Mezzour, the Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, before being presented to the House of Representatives, this bill was the subject of an agreement signed with the most representative trade union centers, as part of the consolidation of dialogue and consultation with social partners.
Thus, according to this bill, the newly dad man and working in the civil service, will benefit from a 15-day paid paternity leave. Similarly, the civil servant who adopts a child under 24 months is entitled to 15 days of paid leave, in accordance with the legislative and regulatory texts in force.
As for the female civil servant who takes care of a child under 24 months, she is entitled to 14 weeks of paid leave. Also, the woman who has given birth or who has adopted a child, has an authorization of one hour for breastfeeding and this starts from the end of the maternity leave until the child reaches two years, specified the minister.
