Morocco Approves Chloroquine for COVID-19 Treatment Protocol

The Sanofi antimalarial drug, chloroquine, has just been proposed to the Ministry of Health by a team of 4 doctors, accompanied by the staff in charge of quarantine services at the Moulay Youssef hospital in Casablanca, as part of the recommended therapeutic protocols for the treatment of the Coronavirus disease.
Among these protocols is a dual therapy based on the antimalarial drug, Nivaquine 100 mg, at a rate of 3 daily doses for 10 days, and a 3-day antibiotic from the macrolide class, Azithromycin.
The doctors also recommend good hydration and an appropriate diet during the treatment, emphasizing vitamin C-rich products. Paracetamol is indicated in case of fever and the antiemetic Primperan for vomiting.
In addition, 4 to 5 types of biological analyses, the results of which can be obtained in 30 minutes, should be carried out in parallel by the patient, namely the blood count, blood tests, ESR and CRP, the inflammatory assessment, urea and creatinine, kidney function, blood sugar, and LDH and CPK, markers of cardiac, hepatic and muscular pathologies.
