Morocco Appeals FIFA Rejection of Munir El Haddadi’s National Team Switch to CAS

The request of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) regarding the change of national representation of the player Munir El Haddadi was rejected by FIFA. The FRMF has decided to urgently appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against this decision.
The decision follows the exchanges between the FRMF and FIFA on the latest general assembly of the international body regarding the new amendments made. These new amendments aim, among other things, to allow a player to change his national representation, said a statement from the FRMF published on its website. The FIFA Player Status Commission has indeed consolidated its decision through its interpretation of one of the clauses of the new statute on the under-21 category.
The commission relied on El Haddadi’s participation with the under-21 category on the "La Roja" side, specifically in three matches with the Spanish U21 national team, when he was two months older.
The FRMF disputes the double standard policy regarding El Haddadi, as at the same time FIFA has authorized the players Ayman Barkok and Samy Mmaee to wear the Moroccan national colors.
