Morocco Appeals CAF's Four-Match Ban on Coach Walid Regragui

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has contested the decision of the Confederation of African Football regarding Walid Regragui, the coach of the Moroccan national team.

This decision follows incidents during the match against the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Federation claims that the decision is unfair and incorrect, as Walid Regragui did not behave in a way that goes against the spirit of sport.

The Disciplinary Commission of the Confederation of African Football announced a sanction against Regragui, consisting of a suspension for four matches, two of which are suspended, and a fine. The commission examined the arguments of the Moroccan and Congolese parties, including those of Regragui, as well as the reports of the referee and the match observer.

Walid Regragui recalled that such altercations are common in football, as we saw during the World Cup between the Netherlands and Argentina. He added that the incident was amplified more than it deserved and that he was particularly sorry for the accusations that he had made racist remarks, which he firmly denies and finds insulting, stating that he wants to defend his reputation to the end.

During the press conference before the match against Zambia, Regragui also confessed to having received racist messages and others inciting murder, which he considers shameful and unacceptable.
