Morocco’s New Apache Helicopters to Feature Advanced Longbow Radar Systems

The 24 Apache AH-64E helicopters that Morocco has ordered from Boeing will be equipped with Longbow FCR fire control radars.
The U.S. Department of Defense has announced that Longbow Limited has won a $164.6 million contract to provide this equipment to Morocco, the Netherlands, India and the United Arab Emirates, reports the UPI news agency.
In a recent statement, Lockheed Martin highlighted the advantages of the system. According to the company, the mast-mounted system provides Apache crews with automatic target detection, location and classification, while "enabling rapid and multi-target engagement in all weather conditions across a variety of terrain and through battlefield obscurants."
"The LBL team is thrilled to bring the Moroccan, Dutch and Indian armies into the Longbow FCR user community, and to update the UAE with new capabilities, as the evolving missions of U.S. allies will benefit from our precision engagement capabilities," said Jim Messina, Longbow program director at Lockheed Martin, in a press release. "The Longbow radar remains a relevant and important system for the missions performed by Apache crews," he added.
