Morocco Announces Three-Year Salary Increase Plan for 900,000 Public Servants

At the Cabinet meeting held last Thursday, the issue of salary increases as well as the various allowances paid to civil servants and their dependents was discussed, among other things.
According to the Government Spokesperson, Mustapaha El Khalfi, this salary revaluation concerns 900,000 civil and military civil servants. This salary increase will be accompanied by an increase in family allowances for the benefit of 300,000 civil servants.
To accompany this revaluation, 36 decrees were presented on Thursday for the effective implementation of the agreement signed with the various unions.
Concretely, it is a question of a progressive increase over three years:
• 200 DH from May 1, 2019,
• 200 DH from January 2020,
• 100 DH in January 2021.
This net increase will be 400 DH for civil servants with grade 6 and above. It will be paid on the basis of 200 DH from May 1, 2019, 100 DH in January 2020, and 100 DH in January 2021.
Following these revaluations, the minimum wage in the Public Service will now be 3,300 dirhams per month, while the average should be around 8,000 dirhams. All this has a cost for the State since the bill amounts to 14.5 billion dirhams, or 11% of GDP and 53% of tax revenues...
