Morocco Announces Financial Aid for Earthquake Victims, Reconstruction Plan in Development

Owners of homes destroyed by the earthquake will receive compensation, announced Aziz Akhannouch, the Moroccan head of government, at the end of a meeting of the interministerial committee in charge of reconstruction.
The interministerial commission is currently "focused on rescue, burial of the deceased and food aid," said Aziz Akhannouch to the press, specifying that, following the Royal High Instructions, reflections are underway to develop and implement a reconstruction plan for the areas affected by the earthquake and to compensate people who have lost their homes.
More detailed information on these various actions will be made public in the coming days. "We have agreed on an indemnity to be granted to the owners of homes affected by the earthquake, and we will announce the measures taken soon," said the head of government, adding that efforts are underway to find housing solutions for the victims, pending the reconstruction of the homes.
"500 schools have been destroyed, and a good number of health centers will also be rebuilt as part of this program," Akhannouch also announced, saluting the efforts of the Ministry of the Interior during this sensitive period.
