Morocco and Philippines Agree to Launch Direct Flights, Boosting Tourism and Trade

Morocco and the Philippines have started negotiations over the past week that have resulted in the opening of direct air links between the two countries. Good news for Moroccan tourism and for the economic and social relations between the two States.
It is the Philippine Department of Transportation that indicated in a press release that the governments of the two countries have signed a memorandum of understanding relating to the opening of direct air links between the Philippines and Morocco.
According to Article19.ma, the Philippine Undersecretary for Air Transportation, Manuel Antonio L. Tamayo, in a message sent to Business world, explained that the agreement signed between the two parties authorizes the establishment of 7 passenger flights per week, as well as unlimited cargo flights between the two countries.
The Philippine Department of Transportation also indicated that it has started negotiations on the Air Services Agreement (ASA) between the Philippines and Morocco, which should allow "to define the relations in the field of aviation and the exchange of traffic rights between the two countries".
According to the same source, a third "code sharing" agreement has also been initiated in order to allow integrated connections to destinations that do not have direct flights from either of the two countries.
It should be noted that as part of the strengthening of cooperation between the two States, the Philippines plans to open its diplomatic representation in Morocco as early as next year.
