Morocco and US National Guard Conduct Joint Disaster Response Exercise

The Royal Armed Forces (FAR) are currently participating in a joint disaster management exercise "Morocco-Mantlet 2021" with the Utah National Guard of the United States Armed Forces. The exercise started on September 13 and ends on September 26.
"On the High Instructions of King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, and within the framework of the partnership between the FAR and the Utah National Guard, the Rescue and Rescue Unit is organizing a joint disaster management exercise "Morocco-Mantlet 2021"," said Colonel Ahmed El Ghanami, commander of the FAR Rescue and Rescue Unit. The exercise aims to allow the FAR to exchange their expertise and experience with the Americans in the management of disasters related to industrial fires, flood rescue, clearing and CBRN defense, he added.

The "Morocco-Mantlet 2021" is organized in two phases. During the first phase, which took place from September 13 to 15 in the Rescue and Rescue Unit in Kenitra, the participants were given presentations on the common procedures for managing disaster situations, and the contribution of the various FAR stakeholders in the event of disasters.
The second phase, which takes place from September 20 to 24 at the Ksar Sghir military port, is devoted to practical exercises on the various rescue and rescue techniques. Representatives from the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Mauritania, Senegal, Niger, Burkina Faso and Djibouti are participating as observer countries in this simulation exercise of a massive explosion in a warehouse of chemicals and explosives, causing significant human and material damage.

"This exercise is an opportunity for us to develop our capabilities, encourage Moroccans and help them in training, which allows them to put their leadership into practice, not only in the Maghreb or on the African continent, but also in the Mediterranean region," said Major General Michael J. Turley of the Utah National Guard, also praising the "strong" relations between the United States, particularly the state of Utah, and the FAR.
