US and Morocco to Lead Massive ’African Lion’ Military Exercise in June

The Moroccan and American armies are busy organizing in June, African Lion, the largest military maneuvers in Africa. The 2020 edition had not taken place due to the health crisis.
As part of the preparations for this year, a joint delegation from the American and Moroccan armies has been touring the various sites that are to host this program since January 20 and until January 30.
In total, more than 10,000 soldiers, both from the American and Moroccan armies, and from the armies of other African countries such as Senegal and Tunisia, will take part in these maneuvers which will take place on land, at sea and in the air.
The objective of this exercise is to ensure synergy of actions between the participating armies. Humanitarian actions are organized on the occasion for the benefit of the regions in which these maneuvers are carried out.
The African Lion maneuvers were launched in 2003, and were organized without interruption until last year when the Covid-19 pandemic dictated its law. This year’s edition will be marked by a special touch as it is the first organized under the Biden administration that has just come to power in the United States.
