Morocco and Israel Unite in Landmark Interfaith Celebration in Madrid

The embassies of Israel and Morocco in Madrid will organize this Monday, the Jewish Passover and the end of the Ramadan fasting month. A first joint commemoration since the restoration in December of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The two countries have chosen to celebrate together the Jewish Passover and the Eid al-Fitr feast. The event will take place at the Casa Sefarad-Israel in Madrid. With this event, "the embassies of Israel and Morocco seek to highlight the bonds of friendship that exist between the two countries and with Spain."
Morocco is the fourth country, after the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan, to restore diplomatic relations with Israel, under the auspices of the Trump administration. Moroccan Jews in Israel and elsewhere celebrate Mimouna at Passover. This purely Maghrebi feast has become global thanks to the Judeo-Moroccan diaspora, to the point of becoming one of the popular festivals in Israel, explain the organizers.
In Morocco, Jews are in the habit of receiving Muslim and Christian relatives and neighbors in their homes on the occasion of the Jewish Passover, who bring them bread, honey, butter, dates and nuts.
