Morocco and Israel to Launch New Maritime Trade Route via Saudi Arabia

Several months after the normalization of their relations, Morocco and Israel are working to strengthen their economic cooperation. The latest project to date: the opening of a maritime line.
The Israeli maritime transport operator ZIM is active in launching a new maritime line connecting a port in Saudi Arabia with the ports of Agadir and Dakhla via Israel, reports the monthly Économie & Entreprises.
The port of Jeddah on the Red Sea is expected to be the starting point of this maritime line. The ships will head for the port of Haifa on the Mediterranean before reaching Agadir and Dakhla on the Atlantic Ocean. Based in Haifa, Zim is the 11th largest container shipping operator in the world with 1.2% of global capacity and 92 ships.
Prior to this announcement, it had been announced that the Israeli airlines Israir, El Al and Arkia will serve several Moroccan cities including Marrakech, starting July 25, 2021.
