Morocco and Algeria Vie to Host 2025 Africa Cup of Nations After Guinea Loses Bid

Former Moroccan international Abdeslam Ouaddou commented on the withdrawal of the organization of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2025) from Guinea and the fact that Morocco and Algeria have submitted their candidacy to host this major sporting event.
Since the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that it had withdrawn the organization of AFCON 2025 from Guinea due to non-compliance with the schedule of stadium renovation work, candidacy intentions are multiplying from other countries. Morocco, whose stadiums meet international standards, is seriously hoping to win the right to organize this competition. But it will have to fight with Algeria, which has expressed the wish to host this sporting event, reports middleeasteye.net.
However, for former Moroccan player Abdeslam Ouaddou, instead of fighting, Morocco and Algeria can jointly organize this AFCON 2025. Is such a dream possible when we know the extent of the political conflict between the two countries for decades? One thing is certain, the battle promises to be tough for the two countries, which have solid arguments. Morocco can count on its infrastructure, the recent organization of the Women’s AFCON and the fact that it has been repeatedly called upon by CAF to host AFCON qualifying matches.
Algeria, which last hosted an AFCON in 1990, also has infrastructure adapted to international standards. CAF will have to announce in the coming weeks the name of the country that will replace Guinea for the organization of this Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2025).
