Morocco’s Amrabat Explains Late Return in Croatia Match, Dismisses Speculation

Many have been wondering why Sofyan Amrabat was late in returning for the second half of the match between Morocco and Croatia. After keeping the mystery alive for a few days, the Moroccan player finally spoke up.
Only ten Moroccan players were on the pitch for the second half of the match between Morocco and Croatia. The Fiorentina player only joined his teammates a few minutes later. A short video clip showing the scene has been circulating on social media, generating many comments. But for Sofyan Amrabat, there was nothing serious. "I read a lot of very funny things, but I had my shin guards under a towel," he revealed to ESPN.
The Moroccan international took the opportunity to comment on his team’s performance. "We defended well. We were good, compact. It was difficult for them to create dangerous chances. I think we did better on the counterattack, even if we could have finished at times, we could have made better choices. I’m quite satisfied with my performance. Of course, you can always do better. But overall, I can consider myself reasonably satisfied. The most important thing for me is to make the team play better and maintain the balance," he explains to Voetbalzone.
Even though Morocco did not score any goals, it is imperative for the Moroccans to earn three points in the next match. And that will be on Sunday, November 27, against Belgium, the group F leader with 3 points.
