Morocco to Allow Limited Entry for Citizens and Residents Starting July 14

Despite the cancellation of the Marhaba 2020 operation, an emergency plan is needed to allow the transit of Moroccans residing abroad (MREs), especially from France and Italy, who are waiting for the borders to open in order to reunite with their loved ones.
The Moroccan government has announced that Moroccan citizens and foreign residents in Morocco will be allowed, under certain conditions, to enter the territory of the kingdom from July 14. For this special operation, flights will be operated by the national companies, Royal Air Maroc and Air Arabia, and travelers will be required to present the results of the PCR or covid-19 serological test less than 48 hours old at the airport. The same requirements will be demanded from travelers who choose the maritime route, with departure from the ports of Sète in France and southern Italy.
The Spanish authorities have taken the necessary measures to best manage this operation in case the borders are opened, reports the daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia, which recalls that last Wednesday, the steering committee of the Marhaba operation in Spain had met to study all possible scenarios and consider an emergency plan in case the Marhaba 2020 operation was organized.
During an oral question session in the House of Representatives on June 22, Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, stated that the cancellation of the Marhaba operation does not prevent the return to the country of Moroccans residing abroad. Except that, due to the health crisis, conditions will be required.
