Morocco Allocates $13 Million to Save Bee Populations and Support Beekeepers

Faced with the worrying situation related to the disappearance of bees experienced by Moroccan beekeepers, the government has decided to come to their rescue. An emergency aid of 130 MDH has been released.
This amount is allocated to support beekeepers in the reconstruction of hives infected by the distribution of new bee colonies and the implementation of a national campaign to treat hives against the varroa disease.
The aid will also make it possible to carry out awareness campaigns for the benefit of beekeepers, in particular with regard to good beekeeping practices, adds a press release from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests.
This decision comes after a working session held last Saturday bringing together the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, the Minister of Agriculture, Mohamed Sadiki, the Director General of the National Office of Food Safety (ONSSA), Abdellah Janati, and the central director of production sectors.
