Morocco Allocates 30 Million Dirhams for Tichka Tunnel Feasibility Studies

The government is working on the project to build a tunnel connecting Ouarzazate to Marrakech. Nizar Baraka, Minister of Equipment and Water, talks about the detailed preliminary study.
Additional geophysical and geotechnical studies will have to be carried out as part of the finalization of the detailed preliminary study. Responding to a written question from the deputy of the team of progress and socialism, Adi Chajari, Nizar Baraka specified that the realization of these studies requires a budget of 30 million dirhams. He also announced that the construction of an access road at the level of the tunnel is planned to carry out these geophysical and geotechnical studies, at an approximate cost of 40 million dirhams. This access road will be very useful in the construction and operation phases of the tunnel.

According to the minister’s explanations, development work has been undertaken over a total length of 177 kilometers, on national road number 9 connecting Marrakech and Ouarzazate, at a total estimated cost of 1.8 billion dirhams as part of the road safety program.
