Morocco Allocates 2 Billion Dirhams to Modernize Taxi Fleet by 2021

The Moroccan government has allocated a budget of 2 billion dirhams for the renewal of the taxi fleet. This operation will extend until December 31, 2021.
This decision comes in response to the professionals’ requests for the renewal of the fleet in the coming years, said Noureddine Boutayeb, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Interior, to the House of Councillors on Tuesday, December 31.
According to the minister, allocations have been programmed for the two consecutive years, and requests from professionals have been received and processed. He also noted that to date, 5,000 requests have been made in this framework.
Noureddine Boutayeb also stated that a total of 2.5 billion dirhams had been allocated to the subsidy program for the renewal of first and second category taxis until 2017. According to the minister, this subsidy has enabled the renewal of nearly 41,000 taxis (including 25,000 large and 16,000 small), or 54% of the fleet.
