Morocco Allocates $370 Million in Agricultural Subsidies for 2023 Season

The government maintains its support for the agricultural sector. This year, 3.7 billion dirhams in subsidies will be allocated to the sector, for a total investment of 7.4 billion dirhams.
Questioned in the House of Councilors on "the preparations for the launch of the current 2022-2023 agricultural season", the Minister of Agriculture, Mohamed Sadiki, explained that these allocations granted under the Agricultural Development Fund (FDA) include support for irrigation equipment on an area of 350,000 hectares by the end of 2027, as well as the granting of new aid in favor of youth and the development of collective lands.
The agricultural subsidy system in place proposes the establishment of new aid in line with the commitments made under the program contracts, agricultural equipment, the establishment of agricultural product processing units, the use of selected cereal seeds, in addition to the revival and diversification of agricultural exports, the minister specified.
Regarding exports, Morocco ensures the regulatory procedures in this area, the minister said, stressing that these are based on strengthening technical control, coordination and vigilance, as well as the revival of exports through participation in international events, the improvement of services rendered, and the diversification and strengthening of export activity. As of October 23, the volume of these exports amounted to about 15,000 tons of citrus fruits and 171 tons of early produce.
As for the financing aspect, Sadiki indicated that it will be provided by the Crédit Agricole du Maroc Group. The bank has taken the necessary financial and organizational measures, like in previous campaigns, to meet the financing needs of the current agricultural season under the best conditions.
