Morocco Aims to Streamline Services for Expats Through Consulate Reforms

The delegate minister to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nezha El Ouafi, intends to work to improve the services of Moroccan consulates. She focused on activating the role of Moroccan consulates abroad, during the session of oral questions in the first Chamber.
"All the apparatus of Moroccan official diplomacy are mobilized to defend the national cause by being active abroad by all possible means," said the delegate minister to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad.
Nezha El Ouafi said that "in addition to the roles played by the consular centers in the framework of their administrative missions, there is a lot of work done by the consuls who continuously organize cultural, economic and social activities while being in continuous contact with the elected representatives of local associations, in the host countries to defend the territorial integrity of Morocco".
Regarding the consular reform, the minister affirmed that "2020 promises to be a pivotal year, since a new approach of digitization and good governance has been put in place to strengthen the pioneering role of Moroccan consuls and consular services abroad". This should improve consular services and activities, particularly with regard to financial resources and the services benefiting Moroccans residing abroad (MRE).
