Morocco Aims for Group Lead in AFCON Qualifier Against Central African Republic
Tuesday 17 November 2020, by
The coach of the Atlas Lions is reintroducing the team that allowed the victory in Morocco on November 13. A second victory for Morocco on Tuesday will propel it to the top of the group with a significant 5-point gap over the second.
Vahid Halilhodzic insisted that the injured players such as Achraf Hakimi, Youssef En-Nesyri and Salim Amallah be part of the trip to Cameroon. According to the daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia, the doctor of the Atlas Lions had said that the injuries of the three players were not serious. They could therefore be of valuable help if they manage to recover quickly.
The Moroccan delegation has been in Cameroon since Saturday for the last match of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2022) qualifiers, which will be played on Tuesday against Central African Republic. The coach had a first training session with the players who did not participate in the November 13 match. As for the second training session, it was held on Sunday for the entire group in order to condition the players for this second decisive match.
Morocco’s victory last Friday on the pitch of the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca puts it at the top of Group E with 7 points, ahead of Mauritania, Burundi and Central African Republic.
