Morocco Aims to Cut Greenhouse Gas Emissions 42% by 2030, Official Announces at COP25

During the COP 25 proceedings organized under the presidency of the Government of Chile and held from December 2 to 13 in Madrid, Abdelghani Boucham, Morocco’s representative, presented the kingdom’s progress in renewable energy.
"Morocco is making progress in updating its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), which provides for a total reduction of 42% of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030 compared to the normal business scenario, in order to meet its commitments under the Paris Agreement," said Abdelghani Boucham.
Facing the many world leaders and heads of government participating in this COP 25, the Moroccan official stated that of the 42% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions that Morocco intends to achieve by 2030, 17% are unconditional and are part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) taken by the Kingdom.
At this COP 25, which has mobilized about fifty world leaders, heads of state and government, and presidents of institutions, the presence of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is also to be noted. Its main purpose will be to consider ways to address the challenges of climate change.
