The establishment and encouragement of manufacturers of vehicles with internal combustion engines has undoubtedly multiplied the desire of the Moroccan authorities who now set a new course in the automotive industry. Indeed, informs Aujourd’hui Le Maroc, "the authorities intend to move up the range by boosting the production of eco-friendly cars, particularly those with electric and hybrid engines."

To achieve this, the newspaper provides information on the significant resources that Morocco intends to deploy. Indeed, this year the country "wants to place thousands of orders for electric and hybrid cars with the stated objective of reaching a 30% rate in the public administration vehicle fleet within three years," writes the newspaper. It should be emphasized that through these acquisitions the Kingdom intends to honor "its commitments on the environmental level in order to reduce the air pollution rate, particularly in the large agglomerations," details the newspaper. Better, "the officials are counting on the orders to encourage local production of eco-friendly vehicles. An objective that seems closer than ever with the countdown to the start of production of the Peugeot plant in Kenitra."

According to the sources of Aujourd’hui Le Maroc, the production lines of the latter should produce the first vehicles of the latest Peugeot 208s. A car capable of accommodating an electric motor in one of its versions. In addition, the newspaper reports that in addition to the 30% reserved for the next three years for hybrid and electric cars, the government wants to take stock of all old vehicles (10 years and over) in order to proceed with their renewal.
