Morocco Aims to Attract 10,000 Skilled Expatriates by 2030 for National Development

A mobilization of 10,000 Moroccan skills residing abroad by 2030. This is what Nezha El Ouafi, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, announced on Thursday.
This project is part of the implementation of the National Program for the Mobilization of Moroccan Skills Residing Abroad. It is an initiative that aims to "optimally invest the human, material and intangible capital of this category of citizens," said Saaid Amzazi, Minister of National Education, in a press release read during a press conference held by videoconference, at the end of the Cabinet meeting.
Also, this program will allow to "set up an integrated and sustainable governance and design framework that will in particular achieve convergence and institutionalize the mobilization of MRE skills in order to strengthen their contribution to the different national priority projects launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI," said Nezha El Ouafi, stressing that "As part of the implementation of this program, the delegated ministry has worked, in partnership with all the ministries and national institutions, to develop and implement new programs".
Among these new programs, we note the "Academy of Moroccan Skills Residing Abroad" (MRE Academy) through which Moroccan skills have been mobilized for the benefit of the Vocational Training and Employment Promotion Office (OFPPT), through the conclusion of agreements between the delegated ministry, the Office and the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Administration Reform as well as five networks of Moroccan skills abroad in the United States, Canada and Europe.
Furthermore, this same participatory approach has enabled, according to the press release, the implementation of new programs in partnership with the Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, Air Transport and Social Economy, the Office of Development Cooperation, the Institute for Research in Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN) and the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), in order to develop a program dedicated to national priority sectors to mobilize Moroccan skills abroad, said El Ouafi.
The experiences and expertise of Moroccans abroad will serve in more than one way, particularly during the post-Covid-19 period, as well as in the context of the implementation of the contents of the new national development model, in partnership with the ministries and national institutions concerned, the minister also specified.
