Morocco’s Agricultural Exports to US Hit Record $439 Million in 2022

A record of Moroccan agricultural product exports has been recorded in the United States, with some $439 million last year.
The Moroccan agricultural sector is still distinguished, positioning itself as the third pillar of the kingdom’s exports, behind mining and industry. In 2022, a new record was set, particularly towards the United States, where shipments reached $439 million, said Ghita El Ghorfi, general manager of Morocco Foodex, on June 27.
While the figure for the United States represents a historic high for Morocco, it only accounts for 5% of the country’s total agri-food export earnings, which amount to $7.8 billion on the global market.
More specifically, citrus fruits generated $172 million, followed by canned fishery products ($93 million) and processed agricultural products ($69 million). To further increase these exports, Morocco plans to strengthen its cooperation with the United States.
In this perspective, a memorandum of understanding has been signed between Morocco Foodex and the Food Industry Association (AFI), the main association of American agri-food importers. "It’s an opportunity to see more than 400 American buyers present in Morocco," said the CEO of Morocco Foodex.
