Morocco Advances Major Highway Project to Connect Northern and Southern Regions

Dual carriageways will soon connect Agadir, Dakhla and Guergarat. The Ministry of Equipment and the Ministry of the Interior are preparing to start the feasibility studies for these very ambitious road projects.
The team of experts led by Abdelkader Amara will travel to Dakhla on December 16 to examine the route of these two road sections, which will bring the provinces located in the North and those in the South of the kingdom closer together in the coming years, passing through the Souss-Massa Region.
The delegation led by the Minister of Equipment has planned a series of site visits as well as meetings with local authorities. The dual carriageway connecting Dakhla to Guergarat will be 450 km long for a total investment of one billion Dirhams. Its realization will be a victory for the authorities who, during the last visit of the Head of Government, pleaded for the establishment of such an infrastructure.
The road between Agadir and Dakhla, via Laâyoune, will be 1,165 km long. Its realization is part of the wish expressed by the King on November 6 in his speech commemorating the 44th anniversary of the Green March.
