Morocco Advances Anti-Money Laundering Bill in Parliament

The draft law No. 12-18 amending and supplementing the Criminal Code and Law No. 43.05 on the fight against money laundering is currently on the table of deputies who will have to consider its adoption.
According to Les Inspirations Eco, this draft law will be the subject of discussions within the parliament. "We need to study and amend the text under normal conditions. The urgent nature of the text must in no way affect the sovereignty of parliament in matters of legislation," said the PJD parliamentarian, Amina Maelainine.
On Wednesday, the Minister of Justice presented draft law No. 12-18 amending and supplementing the Criminal Code and Law No. 43.05 on the fight against money laundering before the Commission on Justice, Legislation and Human Rights in the first Chamber.
Mohamed Ben Abdelkader stressed the urgency surrounding the adoption of this draft law. This will allow Morocco to fulfill its international commitments on the one hand, and to avoid the gray or black list of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), on the other.
