Morocco Acquires $209 Million in High-Tech GPS-Guided Bombs from US

The United States Department of Defense announced the signing of a new contract with Morocco for the acquisition of 8,000 high-tech explosive devices, with very high power and directed by a GPS system.
These explosives, which are intended for F-16 fighter jets, were acquired for a total budget of 209 million US dollars. The contract includes, in addition to the devices, spare parts, support equipment and related logistics services.
The press release from the US Department of Defense adds that these explosives will allow the Kingdom to face the danger of terrorism and extremist groups in Africa, in addition to the possibility of participating in various alliances and military operations.
According to the daily Al Massae, these multi-purpose American bombs, of the Mark 80 type, cover an area of 2,400 m2 at the time of the explosion and weigh nearly 240 kg. They are laser-guided or satellite-navigated.
