Morocco Accelerates Digital Transformation of Government Services

The process of dematerialization and digitalization of the administrative circuits of the Ministry of the Interior and its territorial competencies is making great strides.
The Ministry of the Interior has sent a circular signed by Khalid Safir, wali director general of local authorities (DGCT), to the walis and governors in the regions, wilayas and provinces, reports Al Ahdath Al Maghbribia.
The circular recalls the outlines of the ministry’s digitalization and dematerialization program, which is in line with the government’s e-gov strategy. Its implementation is urgent due to "the major challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic," the document explains.
This program is divided into four main areas: digitalization of services provided to citizens and businesses and that of the financial management of local authorities, geographic information system and monitoring of programs and projects, or open government.
For the materialization of the project, the Ministry of the Interior calls on "the walis and governors to ensure that all the conditions are met to achieve the expected objectives." They are also asked to make "any proposal to facilitate their implementation, as well as any initiative or good practice that can be shared with other local authorities."
