Morocco’s 2030 World Cup Host Cities See Real Estate Boom Ahead of Tournament

Cities like Tangier, Agadir, Marrakech, Rabat and Casablanca, which will host the 2030 World Cup that Morocco will co-organize with Spain and Portugal, are experiencing an acceleration in real estate sales and purchases.
In the perspective of co-organizing the 2030 World Cup, euphoria is gripping the real estate market. This is evidenced by the acceleration of real estate sales and purchases in Moroccan cities like Tangier, Agadir, Marrakech, Rabat and Casablanca, which will host matches of the competition. These transactions reflect the growing interest of real estate owners in renting residential units to visitors during the World Cup period. The number of these visitors could exceed 2 million people. Enough to hope for a relaunch of all economic sectors in general and the real estate sector in particular.
In Tangier, construction and development operations around the Ibn Batouta stadium are experiencing a real acceleration. In this area, real estate prices have also skyrocketed after the FIFA announcement of the attribution of the organization of the 2030 World Cup to the Morocco-Spain-Portugal trio. According to professionals, the increase in the real estate market in the city of Tangier has reached around 20 percent. Result: the turnover of the real estate sector, considered a key driver of the economy in many Moroccan cities, is experiencing a certain increase.
Remains to meet the demands to establish rules in order to maintain acceptable levels of real estate supply for all categories, as well as to preserve the stability of the real estate market after the end of the World Cup, particularly due to the construction boom the kingdom has experienced in recent years.
