Morocco’s 1,055 km Tiznit-Dakhla Expressway Nears Completion, 85% Done

While it was scheduled to be completed in 2021, the Tiznit - Dakhla expressway should finally be completed next year. According to the Ministry of Equipment and Water, its completion rate is currently 85%.
This gigantic construction site, 1055 km long, is the result of an agreement signed in 2015 between the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Equipment and four regions for a budget of nearly 10 billion dirhams.
Composed of the Tiznit-Guelmim, Guelmim-Laâyoune, Laâyoune-Dakhla sections, this new road will pass through Tan Tan, Tarfaya and Boujdour and will have rest areas and parking lots dedicated to trucks, like on highways. In total, 2.2 million people will be impacted by this new infrastructure.
Once completed, this expressway will not only reduce travel time, but will also facilitate the transportation of goods destined for regions such as Souss-Massa, Guelmim-Oued Noun, Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab.
