Moroccans Report Being Turned Away at Algerian Border Despite Family Visas

Several messages received by Bladi.net this morning raised concerns about Moroccan entry into Algeria. Three accounts describe refusals despite family visas. One involved a visa issued in Casablanca on October 1. No new general restrictions have been publicly confirmed at this stage.

Moroccans Report Being Turned Away at Algerian Border Despite Family Visas

A family visa issued by the Algerian consulate in Casablanca was reportedly not enough. In the latest message received, a person says her Moroccan husband was turned back on arrival in Algeria, despite having obtained a document on October 1, 2026, and being accompanied by his Algerian spouse.

Another reader describes being refused entry in Oran. “I’m Moroccan with a family visa (my wife and children are Algerian) and I was turned back in Oran,” he writes. He cites “reciprocity” and advises Moroccans not to come without residency. His message does not specify the official reason for the refusal.

Visas issued, but refusals reported

Algeria has required Moroccan passport holders to obtain a visa since September 26, 2024, a decision reported at the time by TV5Monde with AFP. However, the accounts received this morning concern travelers who say they obtained a family visa before departure.

In the other direction, reports of boarding restrictions on flights to Morocco have emerged since September 16. TSA said it had seen an Air France instruction asking its teams in Algiers and Oran to refuse Algerian passengers traveling to the kingdom without a valid Moroccan residence card. According to the outlet, the airline attributed the instruction to Moroccan border police.

Difficulties have also been reported when departing from France. An Algerian woman living in the country said Transavia refused to let her and her daughter board a flight to Marrakech at Orly on September 19.
