Moroccans on the podium of professional integration in Spain

According to data published by the Permanent Observatory of Immigration, this dynamic population consists of former unaccompanied minors, now aged 18 to 23 years old. Their contribution to the Spanish economy is consolidating: about 59% of them are officially affiliated with social security, while nearly 40% have obtained a permanent employment contract.

These more than 20,000 young workers find opportunities mainly in the service sector. Catering, hospitality, as well as administrative activities and the construction sector absorb more than half of this workforce. From a demographic point of view, this category remains predominantly male, with the proportion of women not exceeding 6%.

The dynamism of this community is also confirmed on an administrative level. Moroccan nationals rank second among the nationalities obtaining the most residence permits through the "regularization through integration" system. With a share of 14%, they are just behind Colombian migrants.

This strong Moroccan presence is part of a global acceleration of economic inclusion in Spain. Currently, 214,000 foreigners are working legally on the territory thanks to this integration system, recording an increase of nearly 39% compared to the previous year.
