Moroccan YouTuber Released After 3-Month Sentence for COVID-19 Misinformation

The YouTuber "Mi Naïma" is now free. She left the Oukacha prison in Casablanca on Thursday after spending 3 months there for posting false content on YouTube.
As soon as the first cases of coronavirus appeared in March, the 48-year-old YouTuber, who has several thousand fans, had recently opposed compliance with the prevention rules announced by the authorities.
In a video, widely shared on social media, the YouTuber had denied the existence of the coronavirus, and had declared that she, for her part, would live as if the virus had never existed. At the same time, she had urged people to do the same.
Arrested and held in custody, she was sentenced to one year in prison at the end of her trial in April, before benefiting from a reduced sentence in May.
Now free, she will be able to resume hosting her YouTube channel, which helped her survive. It remains to be seen whether in the meantime her fans will still want to follow her.
