Moroccan YouTuber Jailed for 4 Years Over Criticism of King Mohammed VI

Mohamed Sekkaki, better known by the nickname Moul Kaskita, was sentenced on Thursday, December 26, to four years in prison for "offending King Mohammed VI" and for "defamation" and "insults" against public authority representatives and Moroccans. This is the verdict of the Settat court.
This is a sentence pronounced against Moul Kaskita under Article 179 of the Moroccan Penal Code, said his lawyer Mohamed Ziane. This article stipulates that "anyone who commits defamation, insult or offense against the person of the king or the person of the heir to the throne or a violation of the respect due to the king" is liable to a sentence of up to four years in prison.
In early December, the police had arrested the YouTuber after the broadcast, on his channel, of a video on November 29, 2019. In this video, he uttered "insults against Moroccan citizens and remarks affecting their dignity and their constitutional institutions...", the Settat Prosecutor’s Office had indicated in a press release.
